The Beijing Olympics 2008

For those of you who missed the opening ceremony last night, here's the official website for the Beijing Olympics. http://en.beijing2008.cn/

Seeing the opening ceremony live on television yesterday was just spectacular. I was in awe of the grandiosity of it all, the thousands of people used for the performances, the tour through the historic timeline of China, from The Great Wall to the latest landing on the moon by China's astronauts.

Site for the opening ceremony: http://en.beijing2008.cn/ceremonies/headlines/openingceremony/

The performances took its millions of viewers through a journey of China's greatest achievements, from thousands of years ago till today and I felt so very proud of her success (cos I'm chinese ah wtg), of her rapid growth and her glowing mark on the worldmap. Never again will anybody look down upon China, for she has shone her brightest and must be acknowledged and respected. Gone are the times that people used to belittle the chinese.

I've never shunned my roots or my mother tongue, but this bring back a very distinct memory of several people i know of who shed their chinese heritage the way a snake sheds its old skin. One guy even told me that it was "uncivilised" to speak in mandarin. I cannot take the shallowness and stupidity of such thinking.

Confucius' 3000 diciples, who came out chanting the lun yu

A dancer dancing on a large piece of paper depicting the great wall of China, which an earlier performer drew with practised brush strokes.

I personally love dances like this, with their long sleeves, so mesmerising.

A performer playing the pi pa.

formation of the great wall of China. (and later on, chinese characters)

The most spectacular performance, and believe me, they were all very very good, was the word formation one. I thought it was mechanical at first and almost died when the performers came out after the show was over. The fluidity, the synchronised waves of action, the individuality of each performer, for no two had the same moves, was just.... amazing. Simply amazing.

The performers under the moving boxes. Note how they're all at different heights and bear in mind that they each have different movements. One single error could ruin it all. Imagine what an extra stroke could do to a chinese character.

Taichi performance.

Again, very fluid, very organised, very impressive. Especially when they formed a pigeon and even made it seem as though it was soaring by having the performers who made up the wings run up and down.

The sphere on which Sarah Brightman and Liu Huan performed "You and Me", the theme song.

Here's an article written by a very gobsmacked Yahoo! News reporter. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/news?slug=cr-ceremony080808&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

I wonder... how many of us will be more interested in China's history now? How many people of the WORLD will look her up and read about her 5000 year history? (is it 5000? I think so) And how many stupid ones will feel ashamed of their mother tongue and roots as a chinese?

For those who are interested, here's a site for you to read up on China's History.

http://www-chaos.umd.edu/history/toc.html

Will be driving later. Have fun reading=)

Much love,

jwC

I hate people commanding me. TAKE NOTE Y'ALL!

TOmorrow's Taylor's Charity Carnival Day, themed - Taylor's Give Back.

( I THOUGHT OF THAT GENIUS LINE - GIVING BACK WEEK)

go support, buy stuff ah yada yada. Malas wanna promote.

I received this message earlier:

Hi! This message is from P1, about the flower dedication. You had received flowers from your fren, so we are delivering it to you... Please come and collect the flower tml morning at guard house, 8 am sharp. Thx.

=.= first of all, it's hazy now, everyone knows that. and this person wants me to stand around waiting for some flower which he/she should be delivering TO ME. Not ME picking it up from THEM.

Secondly, and the main thing that really ticks me off, is THE COMMAND that DEMANDED me to be there at 8am SHARP.

SHARP U KNOW. wth.

So I replied:

You're supposed to be giving me flowers but command me to be there at 8 sharp. Right...

Dahlah I'm having sore throat and my nose is flowing like niagara and this fella wants me to inhale more polluted air and synchronise my watch to be there at 8 am SHARP. mimpilah, anda.

I know I'm being very bitchy ah. But I'm sick. So I win.

Sultan of Brunei's Personal Plane

UPDATE:

MY DAD IS SUPER FUNNY ah! we were having dinner - fried rice. and he had tobasco with it. He took a tissue to wipe his mouth after he finished his dinner. Then, unknowingly, used the same tissue to clean his nostril and said he felt a 'burning" sensation. Thinking his right nostril was problematic, he dug his left one too. Only to feel it burn up as well. TheN ONLY HE REALISED THE TISSUE WAS THE SAME ONE HE USED TO WIPE TABASCO OFF HIS MOUTH. HAHAHAHAHA. SO HE FINISHED DINNER WITH TWO BURNING NOSTRILS! HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAA. AND HE PROUDLY TOLD US SUMMORE. WTG !

Sultan of Brunei 's Private Airplane

This Airbus 340 aircraft was 'remodeled' in Waco . Yes, the sinks are solid gold and one of them is Lalique crystal . The Sultan bought the aircraft for roughly $100M; had it flown to Waco , brand-new, had the interior completely removed; and had the folks at E-Systems (now Raytheon) install $120M worth of improvements inside and outside

Seriously. A SOLID GOLD sink??? Why? If your sink is SOLID GOLD, does it mean that it sprouts out the fountain of eternal youth?? The only thing more stupid than this is a solid gold toilet bowl. And that exists too. These people are either insane, bathing in money, or insanely bathing in money.

If you have so much to spare, throw some my way can? All I want is an RM150 top from Somerset Bay.

I can think of a million and one ways how the money spent on this airplane can be put to better use. But I guess you can think of them yourself.

I just have to know. How many starving people can USD300 million feed?

Food for thought.

Menghitung Hari - Kris Dayanti.

The competition went... okay, on my part. I screwed up a couple of the notes and was a little out of breath at some parts, but all in all, it was great. My leg was shivering as I stepped on the pedal though. Kecemasan yang teramat. Could've sworn I released some pee wtg.(harhar joking ah)

this is the song, if you're interested. But I sang it a tone lower.

For a song that I heard less than 5 times and only learned the chords for the piano accompaniment yesterday night, I think it turned out fairly well lah.

And there are no words i can use to thank all my friends for being there just to support me (and Yi MIng) today. Germaine, Babyface, Alia (who was ill), Sean, Fifly, Rachel, Mandy (yes ah?), Ying Xian, Babi Jia Shen, Jack, En Lin, Theng Seng .. I hope I didn't miss anyone out. Thanks so much yo. terharu dengan teramat. =,) I sincerely love each and every single one of u lah, pai seh.

Current mood:

Big hugs all around y'all!

$ 20 million is a lot of money.

WASHINGTON - The businessman arrived at the Treasury Department carrying a suitcase stuffed with about $5.2 million. The bills were decomposing, nearly unrecognizable, and he asked to swap them for a cashier's check. He said the money came from Mexico.

Money like this normally arrives in an armored truck or insured shipping container after a bank burns or a vault floods. It doesn't just show up at the visitor's entrance on a Tuesday morning. But the banking habits of Franz Felhaber had stopped making sense to the government long ago.

For the past few years, authorities say, he and his family have popped in and out of U.S. banks, looking to change about $20 million in buried treasure for clean cash.

The money is always the same — decaying $100 bills from the 1970s and 1980s.

It's the story that keeps changing:

_It was an inheritance.

_Somebody dug up a tree and there it was.

_It was found in a suitcase buried in an alfalfa field.

_A relative found a treasure map.

No matter where it came from or who found it, that buried treasure stands to make someone rich.

It could also send someone to jail.

(source: Yahoo News)

Interesting, huh?

Opulence?

Edited: To one of the best friends I am lucky enough to have. yx, even though I'm a free thinker, (cant help but insert this la, its the truth but damn wtg even if its a serious situation) I sincerely pray that your mom is okay and that you are too. For a person who prays with a bible nightly, I have no doubt that God will be keeping an eye on your mother and will help her through this. To all others reading this. You may not know who I'm referring to, but all the same, please extend your sincere wishes and your prayers to her mother, who is currently hospitalised. (or was she released?). Thank you.

Guess...

Who owns this place. Scroll through the pictures, look at the wealth and opulence of this person's life and see who exactly owns this place at the bottom of the page.

This, is the home of Robert Mugabe. The President of the impoeverished Zimbabwe. While his people are dying by the scores and suffering every single day, he indulges in such luxuries and we are asked to help his people. This home , with its rich furnishings, can easily feed a million people.

Click HERE to read more about Mugabe's mansion.

Also visit this website, http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/2760,features,zimbabwe-update-robert-mugabes-secret-shrine for more information.

And the website below is dedicated to the Zimbabwe Situation, read that up as well if you're interested.

http://www.zimbabwesituation.com/

So I wonder... How can one live in such luxury, to bathe in such wealth while one's people struggle just to fill their stomachs??

Something to ponder on, I think.

My old post on the child's hand being ran over by a truck has been removed due to the many complaints it's gotten, though I did correct my mistake and stated , quite clearly that the aforementioned information was false.

I received a very rude comment calling me a "media fed whore" or something to that effect which I find bloody annoying. Said person also made comparisons to Christianity and mentioned something about priests and altar boys, rapes and so on. As I have very clearly stated, I do not blame any sort of religion or anything like that. I simply said that it is a warped sense of religion that leads to certain actions. WARPED. MISINTERPRETATION of religion. Once again, I hope to clarify this. I am not in any way opposed to any religion of any sort. And for that person to make comparisons to Christianity just shows what kind of hypocrite that person is. I regret not saving the comment, but since I deleted the post, the comment is gone too.

I do admit that it was my fault for posting that post up without doind my research, howeverm it does not in any way warrant such an idiotic comment from a pig like that. And FYI, I'm a free thinker, so I am NOT siding with any particular religion. SO dont make this a big issue. AGAIN, I AM NOT, NOT , NOT Bad mouthing any race, religion, etc, and am completely neutral in matters regarding such things.

And let me say, very clearly, that I do not appreciate rude or offensive comments on my blog. If you want to say something or voice your opinion or even disagree with what I've written here, make the effort to act civilised, please.

I've learnt to do my research on whatever serious posts I plan to put up here, and this piece has been rectified by reliable sources.

that be all

Shooting Right Outside Taylors

UPDATE: JACK TOLD ME THAT HE WATCHED RTM NEWS, AND THE FELLA IN THE KIA APPARENTLY ROBBED A BANK.

Today, I was at the scene of a crime.

Today, I stood mere centimetres away from the spot where an actual shooting occured. I could have touched the yellow tape that the police had used to cordon off the area.

Today, (rumoured) A shooting occured at SS15, Taylors. And I was there to witness the aftermath of it.

Thank God I come home early on Tuesdays for Piano.

My mom asked what the big deal was about the police, as she saw them on the way to Taylors. Being the pat gua that I am, I made her park nearby and walked there to "investigate". Managed to get a few pictures as well.

From asking random strangers (some of which gave me odd looks, and I had a reporter snub my mom when she tried to pat gua), A shooting occured. The vehicle involved is a black KIA.

The windshield was a spiderweb of cracks and on the driver's side, the whole windshield was blown in. By a flying bullet that landed in the victim's head?

The door to the driver's seat was opened. There was crimson blood on the ground. Seeing the amount of blood spilled.. I'm guessing the person isn't alive anymore. What's more, the hole in the windshield? it was at head level of a driving person.

The carplate was removed (presumably by the police), to prevent us from identifying the car owner.

There was a forensics truck, and there were actual CSI-like people gathering evidence. They even had those little number plagues (like the kinds u get when you order food and they say they'll send it to you )to mark places where the evidence was found. it was a chinese woman who did this.

In a truck, there was a body bag.(It sure looked like one to me)

The truck with the body bag is the far left , circled in red.

The Forensics truck, in yellow.

The Black Kia with the bullet-shot windshield and the carplate removed is in pink.

Judging from the initial position of the KIA, (it seemed to have been forced to brake by two or three police cars, because the police cars looked like the swerved right in and cut off the KIA), I'm guessing there was a car chase.

From what I saw, I'd say that there was a car chase , the police were chasing whoever it was that was driving the KIA. The man refused to stop. They swerve and force him off the road. The man probably prove to be a danger of some sort. They shot him.

And the interesting thing is. Whoever fired the shot must have been pretty sharp, cos there was only one bullet shot at the screen. More than one, and the entire thing would have shattered.

OR, the person was killed AFTER he got out of the car. Because I don't really remember seeing much blood on the windscreen.

Come to think about it, the blood on the road wasn't a VERY HUGE pile. Maybe the person was only injured and was already taken away? But then what was the white bad I saw in the truck that looked so much like a body bag? Though logically, I suppose they wouldn't keep the body at the crime scene for so long?? AND, the bystanders, some of which work in the nearby shops, said that someone definitely died. I'm very curious.

There were reporters milling around. I saw RTM, I think. Police officers were crawling around the whole area, interviewing bystanders (Was hoping they'd interview me, but no luck). Some carried big-ass rifles that looked like maching guns. And a big shot police fella with lots of stars on his shoulders was there as well.

After I took these pictures, I went up the overhead bridge for a better view, but my handphone failed me , for the battery ran flat.

I tried to get a shot of the blood on the ground, but i don't think you can see it from this.

I feel this sense of excitement, sort of, i don't know if that's the right word, cos this is my first time being so close to an actual Crime scene. Seeing it on Television or in the newspaper really isn't the same as seeing it live.

I'll be grabbing the newspaper tomorrow. I'm sure this will make the news. I'm also pretty sure I'm not the only one interested to find out the truth.

jwC

if I fail my law test tomorrow, it's because I spent so much time doing this post.
